colordruck's history: managing changes successfully
The history of colordruck spanning more than 60 years is marked by continuous growth - from the smallest beginnings in the Black Forest up to an innovative, mid-sized company of international reputation. It all started in the 1930s with the founding of a classic lithographic printers' shop. Among the product range were paper, labels, razor blade covers, brochures and posters. In early 1950 company founder Wilhelm Mack decided on the company's future technology by taking a strategical step with far-reaching consequences: the synthesis was called offset printing. Closely connected with it was the change from paper printing to packaging printing.
The landmark decision towards the new offset technology has proved itself. Hence, in 1956 the rented premises were abandonded and the first construction stage with 300 sqm of new shop floor was dedicated soon after. The packaging and its design as one of the most significant features of manufacturers' of branded goods corporate identity was a major challenge to colordruck's capability of innovation and investment. The following decades were marked by ongoing investments in high technology and buildings as well as in education and training of staff in order to create a basis for enduring growth. Today, colordruck ranks among Europe's technology leaders in the area of folding carton packaging with a total of more than 180 employees.
